CBS vs. ABC: 'Glass House' Case Gets Hearing Date
The network battle over the legality of the forthcoming ABC reality series The Glass House is finally reaching the courtroom.
On Friday, June 8, CBS filed a restraining order against the production and broadcast of The Glass House, which is scheduled to premiere on Monday, June 18. On Tuesday, June 12, ABC replied to CBS's claims by publishing a document expressing the legitimacy of their program. CBS responded quickly with its own document (you can read a breakdown of both networks' articles here), refuting ABC's statements. United States District Judge Gary A. Feess has accepted CBS' request for a hearing — the suit will take place in court on the morning of Friday, June 15.
Among CBS' claims against The Glass House are that it copies the network's original reality series Big Brother, as well as serves as a violation against the use of said show's trade secrets, as former Big Brotherproducer Kenny Rosen is a creative force behind The Glass House.
